Real Wedding: My Very Own One ~ 26.12.13

Hello People! Hope you all are having a good time! 

As promised in my last week's post, I'm back here and so excited to share with you the pictures of my own wedding and how it turned out to be. If you've seen my previous post, you will realise how beautifully each piece of art created its own place to the venue creating  a beautiful venue for all our guests. Everybody loved it including us! 

As awesome as always, thanks to  our photographer Savio of Savio Colaco Photography for capturing such amazing pictures and all the little pretty details. I bet none could have done it better! Special thanks to all our family & friends who have been so amazing throughout and worked really hard to set up this for us.

Reception Venue

Our Nuptials were held at St. Diogo's Church, Guirim - Goa, followed by a the reception at a cute little romantic place called "Coco Loco Village" set up in a small village in Goa surrounded with a lot of trees. The best part that we loved about Coco Loco was the serene location, a lovely garden and the beautiful fruit trees that make up this entire place. Since we both are nature lovers, nothing could suit our tastes better.

The Wedding Cake

The cake supplied by the venue itself and was conceptualised by us. Since our theme was a nature inspired, love bird theme, we went by this  beautiful design inspired by something that I saw online. To add to the lovely cake were these beautiful cake toppers designed by my sisy Shearl.

Our confetti cones turned out too plain, thanks to the last minute wait. Ha ha ha But it has a lot of memory to it where we all sat just one night before the wedding day and made these cones from normal A4 size white paper. He he he...  

The Guest Tables

As mentioned in my previous post, we wanted our decor to be simple yet very elegant and classy. Hence,we chose to go in for some votive and pomanders. To add a personalised feel, we also added these thank you notes designed by us. Here is what it looked like in the venue.

The Guest Book 

Our Guest book again inspired by Nature and in line with our theme done up on Canvas with gold paper cuttings was the main attraction of the entire set up.  Laid on a table with a bed of purple and gold confetti circles, this area was the most whimsical of the entire set. To team this up, we also put up a frame (done up by Ivan) of our pre-wedding pictures. Decorated with mini pomander strings and glittery monograms backed by strings of led lights made this look awesome.

And that was the entire decor. As you see, this was a lot of hard work, not for me alone but the entire family and close friends. Thanks to all of you for making this so beautiful. It was so much fun doing this all up for this big day. Wish I could relive those moments all over again!

My very own Handcrafted Wedding ~ 26.12.13 (In the making)

Hello People! Hope you all are doing great! 

Its been quiet sometime since my last post; had been super busy with my own wedding so had to skip blogging for sometime! Well I'm back and going and super excited to share stuff with you guys starting with my wedding...

I haven't been so glad as I am today and as I share with you guys all that went into this wedding. It was a tough journey, but ended as a fairy tale... 

Our theme was Plum Purple & Gold centred around nature, carnations & loved birds. Nothing better than incorporating your favourite colours to decorate your own wedding! :D

Almost every single detail was hand-crafted, right from the ring holder, table pieces, guest book and cake topper. Thanks to all my folks - my mom, my siblings - Shearl, Carlton, Allen & Shannon who did everything to keep up with my never ending demands. :D Not to forget Ivan (now my husband) & his family who has a lot of contribution to the all the creative details as well. It took a lot of effort and yes, never ending arguments, but it was all worth it :D 

To begin with, is the invitation card. This was a tough one - getting the perfect paper, perfect colours and the hunt for the right wrapping elements. Thanks to Wilson Gonsalves of White Lace Designs, Margao - Goa who did everything for our idea to fall in place. 

The Invitation Design

It took a couple of weeks to complete the entire Invite since the entire wrapping was to be done by us.It was so much of fun doing this with family! 

And the final product... done up on textured paper with a semi transparent handmade cover held by a punched circle.

We wanted to keep the entire decor very simple yet very elegant. So we chose to go in for a lot of candle votives and a lot pretty details in line with the themes. Here are snapshots of what we made.

It was so much fun making all this stuff for the wedding!! And yes, challenging too... especially if you're very specific about colours and themes. We do lack a lot of good resources especially in India. So we have to make the best of what we have..

DIY: Pet Bottles Lanterns

Hello all you lovely people. Hope you all are doing great! 

Today's post is a continuation to my previous post on recycled pet bottles. This is just another fab way which can be tried to beautify your pet bottle lanterns. A great, simple and inexpensive way to create festive lighting for your home this Diwali.  

Jumping straight to the tutorial, lets start with what you'll need for this project.

·      A Large pet bottle (Either a Mirinda, Coke or Pepsi)

·      Crepe Paper

·      Fevicol/Glue

·      Tea light candles

Take a large pet bottle and cut the upper half & the lower part of the bottle just keeping the

Middle portion. In this case I’ve used a large Mirinda pet bottle. Trim off the extras with a scissor 

to get a neater finish.

For embellishments, I’m going to make use of crepe papers to create a lantern. So take any three different colours of crepe paper. In this case, I’ve used yellow, orange & red. To begin with, cut strips of approximately 5-6cms of each colour. You can get creative by using different textures and colours.

Now take each strip, and make arc-like designs on it. Once you’ve done this, cut out the arc portions keeping it continuous.  Do this for all three crepe papers.

Once we’re done with cutting the arc cutouts, we need to stick them onto the pet bottle cutout in order to create a frilly effect. So now the next step would be to stick each of the crepe cutout by layers. Apply fevicol to the upper part of each frill and stick it to the bottle. So first, start with sticking the first layer beginning at the top of the bottle cutout. Continue the same method and keep sticking each layer one below the other till you reach at the bottom of the bottle.

This is what you're lantern will begin to look like.

You're crepe paper layers will look more like fish scales. Take a look at the picture below:

We're done with the lantern but we need to use it turning it upside down. Like this, it will give a better effect of the scaly layers that we've created. Finally, Just use it with a LED tea light or a normal tea light to light up the lantern. Here's the final product...

Definitely a fab way for putting to use all throw away pet bottles. A very simple idea which can be customised in numerous ways. Do try it out and let me know if you have any suggestions.

It came out of the want to share what I create so I couldn’t think of anything better than a blog. I love to

create and share the techniques behind it.

Time! I struggle to get enough of time to put down all the ideas on my blog.

3. What kind of junk food do you like?

mmmmm…. all sorts of Junk food! I’m a die-hard foodie: P A big fan of the wada-pav & bhel puri in

Mumbai but my all time favorite would be the cutlet bread that you get at the Miramar beach in Goa.

4. A car or a Bicycle ? which one and why ?

A car! Gets me faster to my destination.

5. What is the best thing in your life?

My family, my husband to be and my home state – Goa!

6. Which season is the best according to you?

I love winters! And winter to me is like Christmas. And Goa is superb during winters – Chilly 

breezy mornings, a month long of celebrations and mind blowing sunsets.

Rainbow – I love lots & lots of colors J

8. What makes you frustrated the most?

The need to get more time, to do more stuff & to blog more frequently! I’m a full time 

working professional which leaves me with limited time only over the weekends.

I love too many movies to have a particular favorite but movies that top my list are Real Steel, Chronicles 

of Narnia & all the series in Wolverine (well, that’s because I totally love Hugh Jackman).

Nature Inspired: Leaf Stamped Votives

Hello people!! Hope you all are doing great! I know I've been missing out on posting regularly - have been extremely busy (and I still am...) with a lot of my other projects. Yet, I took a little time out to get this beautiful project posted here. 

Well, the last time I featured a set of recycled coasters done with leaf  stamping. And I'm so in love with the leaf stamp designs that I cant keep my hands off trying it on everything I can think of! So this time, its a set of cute votive's done in different colours! Check it out!

These are snapshots taken in sunlight which clearly shows up all the leaf stamps. They look gorgeous don't they? Here are a few snapshots with led lights.

So all I used for these votive's were some glass paints and metallic acrylic paints for stamping. A really nice way of imbibing an element of nature into home decor.  If you love pretty natural elements, this project is a must for you.
