Going Experimental!

What do you do when you have a million of creative ideas playing ‘hide n seek’ at the back of your head? You have a lot to put down on that creative plate and yet struggle to materialise it! And it’s just that little free time which makes so much of a difference – it’s like getting your small little vacation where you can allow your ideas to explode and go boom!

I do believe a lot in ‘last minute spontaneity”. I know it may sound funny but this spontaneity is what I feel gets the best out of all of us!!! Some of my best stuff has been a result of this quality... I feel very proud in sharing some of my work which is a result of my last minute spontaneity! :D

Paper wheels
I had these really cute and adorable printed tissue papers which I had saved (from being used for its normal purpose :D) for all my future craft needs. And I didn't have peace till I would make something out of those. Out of curiosity, I tried making these paper wheels out of them. And this is what they turned out to be like...

The bigger one of the lot... I just adore these bright set of colours...

These are a set of paper wheels I used to decorate the wall in a bright yellow room.

Class Time Table
Come June and its school time! My Mum's a school teacher and every year I have this task to come up with a unique time table for her class...sigh! After being done with all the possible shapes on earth and out of all the square and round options, I decided to make a butterfly-shaped time table for her. This is what it turned out to be like...

These are just a few of my creations. I hope to have more as i go down the creativity lane! :)

Papyrus IV - Part A Pomnader balls

I came across this stunning craft when I first came across Etsy. I saw these amazing pomander balls and how they were used for weddings, home décor, parties and other occasions. And somehow I was just fascinated and soon jumped to the idea of trying them out. I couldn’t wait till I would make one! I looked up some tutorials and articles online and zoom! I was ready to go!

I was already familiar and had tried out paper Mache for lantern balls made out of thread. So I went on to use the same method for the base of the ball. For the flowers, I made use of crepe and tissue paper.

The best thing was, it was end of November which also happens to be the onset of Christmas!! So I had a reason to accessorize my home with these amazing pomnader balls. Finally, to complete it all and to add a little bit of my own twist, I decided to add some light to them! :) For the colors, I stuck to just 2 - cream and magenta.

This is what they look when they're lit up...

Looks nothing less than a fiery ball of fire!

The best thing about these is that they can be used in various ways. I used the lit up pomnader balls for christmas and then used them indoors as a home decor item. Just a word of caution, since these were hung outside in the balcony  , there were exposed in the sun and hence easily prone to fading (specially the darker colors if you're using crepe paper).

Papyrus III – Gift Boxes

Another variation to my gifting products is a range of Gift boxes. These boxes are very similar to the gift bags in my previous post and accessorized in a similar manner. I’ve used a thicker variety of handmade paper for a tougher and better finish. And just like the gift bags, I’ve coupled these with a blank card and a bookmark.

Papyrus II - Handmade Gift Bags

This is a collection of cute little bags made for various gifting options. We have numerous options when it comes to big gifts – just wrap it up in a fancy present paper and top it up with a ribbon. But what about those small little, tiny gifts? What do you do when you gift items like delicate jewelry, ornaments, key chains? Its kind of difficult with limited options available to us. That’s how I came up with an idea of making these little gift bags, each with a different design suited for individual preferences.

I used different types of handmade paper, cardstocks for these and accessorized them with tiny accessories like pearls, decorative stones, quills quilled roses, ribbons and much more.  For the handles I’ve used fancy chords easily available in the market.

To make these bags even more personalized, I added a small blank card and a bookmark which can be given along with the gift.
