Papyrus I – Greeting Cards

Paper Crafting has always been an amusement to me… Right from ordinary newspaper to handmade premium paper, you can make absolutely “something” out of it! And the best thing about paper is you can try out a set of varied techniques to get stunning products.

I’ve been paper crafting since 2003 and begun with mainly greeting cards slowly moving into gifting bags, boxes, paper wheels, decoupage, lanterns etc etc. I will be discussing each of it in a separate post.

To begin with, let me start on the greeting cards I’ve crafted. I love experimenting with greeting cards and every piece I make - I make it with a fresh new idea.

One of the most common techniques in the greeting cards I make would be using quilled accessories. I think they look absolutely amazing giving every item a very plush appearance.
These are few greeting cards where I’ve used quilled roses as accessories.
A blush colored greeting card with quilled roses set on a piece of embossed paper.
My all time favorite combination! Fuchsia colored quiiled roses used as accessories for this one.
A rich combination of red and gold...

Another technique which I just love playing with is quills… They’re just faboulous! Curl them, twist them, do anything, and expect unbelievably fantastic results! These are a few of my creations with quills:

Black clubbed with shades of fuchsia and pink! It took me quiet sometime to complete this one...

One of my personal favorites! blush clubbed with black quills.

Apart from quilling, I love to experiment with some other ideas as well. Here are some of my original ideas and some of my unique works of craft!

Made for a young bride...The dress on the card is made out of cloth used for flower wrapping.
So this is it in my greeting card creations... Yes... this is not all... There's more to come!

Glassy Tales 5 - Champagne Glasses

A range of uniquely designed champagne glasses for decorative purposes! Yes, of course! They can be used as decorative items for your home! You can get totally creative with champagne glasses. They’re awesome to work with! For that matter- with wine & shot glasses as well!

I’ve tried decorating a few ones here. This pack of six champagne glasses was gifted to me by my youngest sister. Thanks to her! I got to try my hands on these!

Unique in their own way, these champagne glasses could be used as decorative accessories in your home.

Glassy Tales 4 - Glass Vases

For all this while it was just glass bottles, jars and bowls… Glass Vases were the last thing on my mind and frankly! I never thought of redecorating them until I spotted these in one of the local markets in Panjim! It was fun brainstorming different ways to decorate these.
With a thin layer of purple glass paint on its surface, this thin-necked vase is studded with purple shaded decorative stones. My idea was to give it a gradient look and hence, started with the lightest shade below spreading to a darker shade to the mouth of the vase. Purple is my personal favorite, the reason why I went in for it… I’m sure this glass will look equally awesome with shades of turquoise, magenta, red, greens… more of the edgy colors.
A closer look..

And all I thought while making this one was “How on earth am I going to use lace on this one?” Thanks to the thin neck…. It made the work easier… Glass painted with tangy orange, the vase has a charm in its own way! Simple yet elegant – that’s how I would describe this one… and guess what? It sold out!! Yippeeeee…
A closer look... Lace makes an awesome accessory especially for glass!

A little on heavier side, this vase has been glass painted in shades of lavender embedded with purple & silver shaded decorative stones.

Glassy Tales 3 - Soda Jars

Soda Jars! There’s lot more you can do other than having soda in it... :P.. I mean... why not use it differently? May be as a decor item for your home? You can use it however you want... And believe me, it makes an amazing decor item for your home!

Love this one! It has been one of my best till date! Embellished with tiny transparent cherry red decorative stones and cute little roses made out of felt paper.

Bling!!!! Yes, this is what these soda jars are inspired from. And the swirly flowery type accessory on these are made from cloth waste.

A more Indianized version... The soda jar is decorated with orangish  decorative stones.

Glassy Tales 2 - Bowls & Fish Tanks

These are an addition to my glass creations. Although they’re not throw-away or junk items, they're more budget-type and are easily affordable in any local market place. Again, just like the throw-away jars and bottles, these glass items are unique in their own way

One of my earlier creations... A small lil’ fish tank mashed up with different colors and swirled around with a black glass liner! Amazing as a home decor item just besides a window!

These are unique bowls with which I've experimented to the fullest! And thanks to my stars, they turned out amazing! Love these... Got these bowls from a local market. I had no idea I could do so much with these!

I want to try more with glass bowls, but haven't come across something as unique as these...
